By combining theoretical reflections, hands-on experiences, diverging opinions, and constructive debates, TALKING CAMERAS will result in a short documentary about mobile photography.

Who will be in the short documentary?

You! Film yourself (or be creative) while answering in words and/or actions to some or all of these questions:

  • how do you shoot? where do you shoot? what do you like to shoot?
  • how do you process your images? where and how do you upload your images? why do you use your smartphone as a camera?
  • what is the role of the mobile photography community in what you do and how you do it?
  • is what you produce art? is mobile photography a new art form? what is next in mobile photography?
  • can mobile photography play a role in social transformation and social cohesion? what interesting activities using mobile photography do you know?

…and anything else that you can think of!

How can I submit my video statement?

  • Videos cannot be longer than 5 minutes.
  • Slideshows are not accepted.
  • Edit using only straight cuts (no dissolve, fade to black, etc.)
  • Do not overlay any text on the video (we will add any credits for you).
  • If you use any voiceover and/or use any music please send us the corresponding audio files too, separated from the original sound recorded during the video.
  • Upload your video to Vimeo (or Dropbox or anywhere we can download it) in its native resolution (720HD or 1080HD) and send us the link.
  • Accepted languages are English, French, Italian and Spanish.
  • In addition to the link, you need to send us the transcripts of the audio material both in the original language and in English.
  • You also need to send your personal information (name, city/country, profession and email address) as well as the credits list for the video (if any).
  • Please consider that what you say is as important as the video quality (so we recommend the use of steady HD-quality shots).
  • Videos must be submitted by April 10th.

How will the videos be shown?

A short documentary composed of a selection of the videos received will be shown during the off-line discussion to be held at EFTI on April 15th.

The piece will also be shown in a monitor located in the EFTI gallery during the month and a half of the exhibit. Before the short documentary is completed, we hope to share some of these videos in this blog.
